Data to Transform Delivery of Physician Services in Long-term Care Facilities
The need:
Through a partnership between the Doctors of BC and Ministry of Health, the Long-term Care Initiative was created to improve medical care for one of BC’s most vulnerable populations – seniors living in care facilities. The initiative enables physicians to change the culture and structure of service delivery through innovative, local and sustainable solutions. In their process of testing different strategies, local communities needed ongoing data to tell them what was working and what wasn’t.
What we did:
On a quarterly basis, we produced 30+ data dashboards assessing progress towards the initiative’s intended outcomes. Data sources included fee-for-service billings data and a province-wide facility survey. Our reports provided local Divisions of Family Practice, Health Authorities and the Provincial Government with the data they needed to adapt their strategies and understand the impact of their work.

What our client had to say:
“The General Practice Services Committee (GPSC) works on behalf of doctors to strengthen full-service family practice, which includes Long Term Care (LTC) and acute in-patient care. In support of province-wide GPSC initiatives, Elayne worked with provincial leaders, Health Authorities, physicians, and others to design, implement and operate a highly effective quality improvement framework. Elayne is skilled, organized, personable and has consistently delivered fantastic results. I highly recommend Catalyst Consulting and the services they deliver.”
