Community Consultation for the Gibsons Public Art Gallery
The need:
In May 2023, the Gibsons Public Art Gallery (GPAG) embarked upon a comprehensive planning process to develop a vision for the future of the gallery. More specifically, the planning process aimed to identify how the gallery building and the organization itself can be improved to enhance inclusivity and the overall public art experience, as well as the long-term sustainability of GPAG. GPAG required a consultant to complete a consultation with key community members and groups to inform their future directions.
What we did:
Catalyst Consulting designed a community consultation process to support GPAG to: reconnect with key community groups and members; develop an action plan for a more inclusive and accessible facility; and create a road map for enhancing the organization’s structure and operations for sustainability. We collected and analyzed data from community members and groups through various methods, including an interactive on-site data collection opportunity, an online survey, focus groups and interviews. Findings from the consultation were summarized in a brief report, along with recommendations for GPAG to consider when determining their future directions.
