Impact of Childhood Immunization Outreach Services
The need:
In 2018, Fraser Health received a 3-year grant from the Public Health Agency of Canada to design and implement immunization outreach services for children and their families. The goal of the project was to contribute to an increase the number of 2-year olds who are up-to-date for immunization and reduce inequities in vaccination coverage for vulnerable populations. Fraser Health required a comprehensive evaluation of the immunization services delivered, including assessment of progress towards project goals and intended outcomes.
What we did:
A mixed-methods evaluation was designed to comprehensively assess the reach, quality and impact of the immunization services offered. We pulled immunization volume data and collected information from a diversity of key groups, such as immunization clients, community partners, frontline public health nurses, and Fraser Health management and leadership. When interpreting the results, careful consideration was given to identifying which immunization outreach models were most effective, and why. Evaluation findings were used by Fraser Health leadership to demonstrate the effectiveness of their outreach model and secure subsequent grants to scale their work.

What our client had to say:
“We engaged Elayne to complete a final evaluation of a complex, multi-year community-based research project. Despite the large scope of the project and the evaluation, Elayne was able to pull together all of our information to tell a cohesive story about our project, the impact it had on our communities, and the lessons learned for future planning. We would highly recommend her services to anyone looking for a detailed and action-oriented evaluation of a complex project.”
