Evaluation of the Vulvodynia Primary Care Toolkit
The need:
The B.C. Centre for Vulvar Health (BCCVH) received funding from the Shared Care Committee to develop an accessible, online toolkit to support family physicians to diagnosis and manage vulvodynia, a distressing vulvar pain condition that is frequently unrecognized and undertreated. The overarching goal of the Vulvodynia Primary Care Toolkit was to improve access to care for individuals with vulvodynia by supporting primary care physicians. In early 2023, the Toolkit was piloted with a group of family physicians and BCCVH required evaluation support to assess their experience and impacts of being engaged.
What we did:
A process and outcome evaluation of the pilot Toolkit was completed in close collaboration with the BCCVH. The process evaluation focused on assessing Toolkit uptake, its design and delivery, and the provider experience with the resource. Potential impacts of the Toolkit for family physicians, and their patients, were explored in the outcome evaluation. A mixed-methods design was employed to evaluate the pilot, including Google Analytics from the Toolkit website, pretest/post-test surveys with the pilot participants, and semi-structured interviews with participating family physicians. Evaluation results were used to enhance the Toolkit’s design, delivery, and content before launching the resource to primary care communities provincially.

What our client had to say:
“Catalyst Consulting was wonderful to work with. I would highly recommend the company to anyone requiring evaluation of a healthcare-related project. She took time to understand the complexity and anticipated impact of our project. Throughout the process she was professional, detail oriented, and always accessible. She brought her valued experience and perspective to the evaluation and ensured our team’s feedback was acknowledged. Her clear communication and the structure she provided helped our project stay on track in the final stages. We are thrilled with the final report. It will go far in assisting us to launch our final product successfully. I look forward to collaborating with her again in the future.”
